AP Art Intro

My name is Alina. I have taken digital photo, animation, pottery, painting, drawing studio, and advanced drawing at Evergreen. Outside of those classes I like to work on pieces at home, but a lot of them dont get finished. I like surreal art, I have a lot of Salvador Dali prints posted around my room.

Time is running out...

Hi everyone! A couple reminders to my 2010-2011 class:
  • You only have a couple weeks of summer left, so make sure you are getting those summer sketchbook tasks done! Let me know if you need another copy of the assignments.
  • I haven't seen introductory blog posts from several of you, so please do that ASAP if you haven't yet.
  • Remember that the last remaining summertime Alberta Street art walk is coming up on August 26th. I saw a lot of you at the June and July ones, wonderful! The August one should be fun as well.
Now is your last chance to get ahead of the game and work on some pieces before school starts on September 1. If it works better for you, feel free to start on 5 or 6 pieces instead of finishing one entire piece. I am happy to help you develop half-finished ideas once we are back to school. Email me if you have any questions. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

my scores, and to the new ap art students

I ended up getting a 4 for both the ap drawing portfolio and for the ap 2d portfolio.

And for the new student: I would highly recommend doing what Mrs. Timko says, trust me. :) Get to work as soon as possible and avoid doing things until the end. The year is going to fly on by before you know it, so work hard and have fun. :) Good luck to all of you! And I'll see some of you in Alberta Street this summer.

score

I got a 3.

HELL YEAH

My score came back......its a 4. =D

AP Scores

I got a two. '10-'11 students, work hard on finishing your portfolio early so you can remove weaker pieces!! It will come in handy :) Have fun!
I earned a 4 on my AP Drawing Studio Portfolio.

Yays! Good luck to 2010-2011 new AP students. Do your work!

Jason C!

Hey I'm Jason. I've taken Drawing studio with Timko and Ceramics with Delaney here at evergreen and damn was it fun! I honestly don't know what a media is so I would appreciate it if someone explained it to me xD All my drawings seem to have no meaning at times but i draw whats on my mind. My art shows my inner feelings and i tend to draw myself in drawings to show the relation between the two. I also tend to interpret words into my drawings somehow because a little extra to my pieces, in other words it makes it OG ;D the thing that made me first start getting interested into art was my mother and this very detailed drawing of a house she drew across the street one day when we first moved to Washington. I was so jealous that i wanted to do the same and now i can! I'm hoping that for this summer I can go back to that house she drew and draw it because that would be really special to me. I'm not really into any artists because i usually draw in my own style but i recently found out about this guy Jesse Reno and his art if da bomb! so look him up in your spare time xD

an introduction.

Hi, I am called Rayna and I am going to be in AP Studio Art next year. I have not taken any traditional art classes in high school (I did take 2 photography courses) but I did take art all three years of middle school. I mostly draw with pencils. I used to do a lot of digital art but haven't had a lot of time for that lately. I actually haven't done a lot of art lately so hopefully over the summer and in this class I can get my skill up to where it was previously.

Like I mentioned before, I mostly just use pencil. As for art I like to look at, I don't really have a favourite medium, but I really like the way watercolours look. They are pretty. I would like to try it but I would probably only succeed in making a big mess. I don't have a top favourite artist off the top of my head, either, but I surf art sites a lot in my spare time so I know what's out there.

Art stuff I plan on doing over the summer: the assignments & creating art, learning different techniques through books and online tutorials. I haven't produced anything worthwhile in the last few years and I'd like to put some more thought into what I do.

AP Art Round Two =P

Im Jaqi Kay Ive been into art since the eighth grade but have only taken art studio, draw studio, advanced draw studio, and AP Art last year at EHS. My favorite artist is David Hovey (www.davidroberthovey.com) his work is absolutley amazing. My favorite media is probably acrylic paint although i love using all other kinds of media. I plan on making some more paintings this summer mostly portraits probably along with all the other summer assignments. This piece is my favorite acrylic painting I've ever done of one of my friends Sallie Raye =)

Introduction (dramatic music insert)

My name is Lexa, my grandmother encouraged me to take up art when I was really young and I've always loved it. At Evergreen, I've taken Art Studio, Paint Studio and Advanced Draw Studio... and Photo 1, but I learned nothing. :| I've taken general art classes all through middle school, including computer graphics (back then, we used Microsoft Paint because we're awesome..) and fine arts. Timko has given me a semester award for art freshman year and Donahue gave me one for painting this year. I thought he hated me until then. I admire many artists, though I don't like every single piece by any artist. There is always one that bothers me somehow. This summer I'm going to all the Last Thursday events with my boyfriend, who is into computer graphics and Game design at the Arts Institute (boo hiss boo!). And do art stuff... like the Summer assignments. :D

Breadth Piece Ideas

Last Thursday Info

WE'RE DONE!!!!!!!

DON'T STOP BELIEEEVIN!

Tori's Slides

1.Is there a range of styles and techniques? If not, what is missing?
Some of these are Concentration pieces, so there is not much of a range. I need to add a lot more pieces.
2.What needs work/reshooting?
My breadth pieces need more work and I need to reshoot the orange and red circle piece.
3.Which pieces are strongest?
I like the one with the eye on it.

Breadth

Howdy :)

I think I'm missing a still life, and maybe some pieces with different materials. I need to reshoot some pictures because of the lighting. Some of the strongest pieces are of people, so that's why I'm pretty much doing my concentration on that. There's still some stuff I'd like to either replace or touch up.

BREADTH!

There is a range of styles in mine because some of the pieces are abstract and there are a couple that are realistic.
I think that the 4th picture on the top row could be edited better, and the 3rd picture on the bottom row needs to be reshot too. I also don't really like the guitar one (3rd one 1st row)
I think my strongest pieces are the glasses, the wolves, and the middle abstract piece.
I'm not sure if I should add all three of the abstract pieces (first 3 in middle row), please give me your opinion :)

Breadth, 15

1.Is there a range of styles and techniques? If not, what is missing?
There is a range of styles, from photorealistic to random abstract.

2.What needs work/reshooting?
I need to remove color cast on some pictures and make some other pieces darker and have more contrast.
3.Which pieces are strongest?
My strongest pieces are my galleon, my wire clippers, and both of my self portaits.

Abstract Expressionism Concentration

Is there a range of styles and techniques? If not, what is missing?
Yes, I tried to incorporate sculpture, abstract and mixed media styles.
What needs work/reshooting?
I personally think I will reshoot all of my work in a studio this week. I also need to reshoot some pieces because they are finished.
Which pieces are strongest?
The black and white piece that resembles an oval.
