Blog Assignment, 11/12

GOOD MORNING!

This month, you may choose to do ONE or BOTH of the following:
  1. Post 3 edited slides with short commentary on each piece. Please do ONE POST ONLY, (i.e., do not post three pieces in three separate posts). Be sure to label with "name, slides." Comments are optional. (4 points)
  2. Pick a contemporary artist that you admire, and post a picture of his or her work, along with answers to the following questions: 1. What medium or media does this artist work with? 2. How would you describe his or her artwork? 3. What is it that you like about this artist? 4. How might this artist influence your work? This should be like a short reflective essay, about a half a page to a page in length. Answers should be thorough and self-reflective. Don't have a favorite artist? Try my shared items for ideas. Please label with your name only.
If you do both, you might receive some extra credit!

Blog Assignment, 10/15

Good morning! Here is your assignment for today:
  1. Do your monthly blog post: 3 edited slides with short commentary on each piece. Please do ONE POST ONLY, (i.e., do not post three pieces in three separate posts). Try to finish your post by about 8:15 to leave time for comments. (4 points)

  2. THEN, starting at 8:15, you will make four comments on four different blog posts from the month of October. Please do not comment on someone's work that already has four comments. When you are finished, everyone should have four comments on their own post. These comments should consist of encouragement, critique, and other constructive feedback. Please be specific about what you like or what you think needs improvement. (1 point for each comment, 4 total)
  3. If you have time today, please go back to all of your past posts and make sure they are labeled with your first name (spelled correctly) and the word "slides."

Time is running out...

Hi everyone! A couple reminders to my 2010-2011 class:
  • You only have a couple weeks of summer left, so make sure you are getting those summer sketchbook tasks done! Let me know if you need another copy of the assignments.
  • I haven't seen introductory blog posts from several of you, so please do that ASAP if you haven't yet.
  • Remember that the last remaining summertime Alberta Street art walk is coming up on August 26th. I saw a lot of you at the June and July ones, wonderful! The August one should be fun as well.
Now is your last chance to get ahead of the game and work on some pieces before school starts on September 1. If it works better for you, feel free to start on 5 or 6 pieces instead of finishing one entire piece. I am happy to help you develop half-finished ideas once we are back to school. Email me if you have any questions. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Welcome 2010-2011 AP Art Students!

Here is your summer blog assignment:

  • Sign up for a blogspot account... obviously!
  • Write a blog post introducing yourself. Please include your name (first name only please!) and a brief description of your arts background, including classes you have taken, media and techniques you like, favorite artists, and anything art-related you plan to do this summer.
  • Include a couple photos of your artwork if possible--please no blurry or grainy pics.
  • In the "Labels for this post" box, please include your first name.

Breadth Piece Ideas

Last Thursday Info

4/16 = Last blog post before submission!

Your portfolios are due in just a few weeks now! This is your last chance to get critique in this online forum before you submit on May 7th. For this post, I would like you to post ALL of the slides from your breadth portfolio.

STEP 1:
Go to http://www.picture2life.com/ and make a photo collage of your work. Put it at the top of your post (should be 12 pieces, fewer for 3D). Picture size is "large."

STEP 2:
Answer the following questions in your entry:
  1. Is there a range of styles and techniques? If not, what is missing?
  2. What needs work/reshooting?
  3. Which pieces are strongest?
STEP 3:
Commenting will be required for a grade. I would like for everyone to give and receive at least three comment critiques, so please try to spread out your critique, so everyone should make three comments addressing the artwork and information that you see. Please don't answer if someone has already received three comment critiques.

BLOG ASSIGNMENT 12/11

  1. Do your monthly blog post: 3 edited slides with short commentary on each piece. Please do ONE POST ONLY, (i.e., do not post three pieces in three separate posts). Please try to finish your post by about halfway through class to leave time for comments. (4 points)
  2. THEN, starting about halfway through class, you will make four comments on four different blog posts from the month of December. Please do not comment on someone's work that already has four comments. When you are finished, everyone should have four comments on their own post. These comments should consist of encouragement, critique, and other constructive feedback. Please be specific about what you like or what you think needs improvement. (1 point for each comment, 4 total)
  3. If you have time today, please go back to all of your past posts and make sure they are labeled with your first name (spelled correctly) and the word "slides." Look to the "labels" list on the upper right side of this page to look for your name and to see how many slide posts you have done.
